Pi Day Fun
Did you celebrate Pi Day?! I love to use the "celebration" as an excuse to review math vocabulary with my 6th graders. First we make a chart on the dry erase board of the different words used in math word problems: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Then they got to practice identifying the type of problem when they see their "key words" in a word problem. I created a "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" game using a PowerPoint template I got from http://jc-schools.net/tutorials/ppt-games/. I grabbed my word problems from ABCTeach.com. I cannot take credit for the template or the word problems! My students had fun today working together as a "speech team" to get to the million dollars and they got to practice their math vocabulary too! You can use this game on a SmartBoard or on a computer with your students gathered around the monitor! Just click the "view slide show" button to get the fun started! Math Game
