Summarizing Fun!

I have many students that struggle with summarizing stories heard or read.  I took some of the strategies and activities used in the past to create an activity for you!

Work on recall of stories and expressing summaries with this fun activity pack!

In this file:
-Visual to assist in understanding summarizing

-Introduction to summarizing:  Students will read (or hear) summaries about popular movies/stories.  They must uses the information provided to name the movie/story.  This will help illustrate how important the key pieces of information is needed.  Can students identify the key pieces using the visual?

-Summarizing Graphic Organizer: Use to teach and practice organizing for writing/telling summarizes

-Summarizing Practice: Short story to practice using graphic organizer and then writing/telling a summary.  Comprehension question cards included to use with any motivating game/activity or drill.

  1. This looks like a great activity packet! Summarizing can be so difficult for students. Giving examples of popular movies/stories is such a good idea. Love it and so will my students. The organizers and visual cues look awesome, too. Those are always helpful for my students. Thanks!
