WeAreTeachers Blog Hop STOP #13 Following Directions with Bop It!

Welcome to the WeAreTeachers Blog Hop Stop #13. If you're just joining us, head back to the BLOG HOP LAUNCH POST  to find out how the Blog Hop works so you can collect all of the necessary clues for a chance to win an iPad, a $50 gift card and much more!

As a participant in this blog hop, I've been asked to write a review of my favorite educational gift. I've chosen:

Product: Bop It! Carabiner

Age range: 8-14 years

Subject areas: Listening and following directions, Speech & Language

Hot Deal: Discounted price at Toys R Us! $9.74.  They are also having a sale of 20% off if you spend over $100 plus free shipping!
This toy is a fan favorite in my speech and language classroom.  Students enjoy taking turns, listening and remembering the quick one-step directions.  They must listen, process and complete the task before it is too late.  I often use the "pass it" setting, to make it a competition in a group of 3-5 students.  The directions are short (2 words: pull it, twist it, shout it, Bop It, pass it).  The directions are always the same which helps for making progress and understanding.  As students complete the tasks accurately, the toy increases speed to make it  more challenging.  I often use this toy at the end of a speech & language therapy session as a reward yet addressing goals at the same time.
