Just grab the book, a file folder, some construction paper, Velcro, glue, scissors and pencils!
Students are able to feed the mummy while reading the story and/or retelling the story.
I used the other side of the file folder to provide a visual for the writing craftivity. I used close sentences to elicit responses using recall and comprehension skills based on the story.
On the back of the file folder, I provided all of the answers to the close sentences. This way, I can easily give choices, or when students expressed the answers they can copy the spelling in their own writing activity.
Students were able to complete the cloze sentences, and then follow directions to put together the mummy craft.
This was a fun way to work on recall, Halloween vocabulary, answering questions, expanding sentences, describing, following directions, and more.
